Slogans als "War is declared, death to the false" en "Give me metal or give me death" zijn erg duidelijk. Ze plaatsen je ook in een compromisloos hokje, vaak in de underground scene. Of dat al dan niet bewust is moeten we aan de band in kwestie zelf vragen. Skelator, origineel uit San Diego maar verhuisd naar Seattle, is al 10 jaar actief en bracht in die tijd een drietal demo's en twee ep'tjes uit in eigen beheer. Dankzij een deal met Metal On Metal brengen ze nu die laatste twee ("Swords" en "The gore of war") opnieuw uit als full length onder de titel "Time of the sword rulers". Los van de luide kreten over hoe true ze wel niet zijn en de - pardon my French - hilarische intro op hun MySpace pagina klinkt Skelator verdomd lekker! Pure epic metal stuff, heel diep geworteld in de eighties en met maniakale 'love 'em or hate 'em' vocalen. Het totaalpakket zit ergens tussen Sacred Steel en Agent Steel in. Het publiek dat daarvoor openstaat, zal dat vast en zeker ook doen voor Skelator. En om ook even loos te gaan: alle krijgsheren die uitrijden met Manowar, Brocas Helm en Holy Martyr mogen zichzelf ook achter deze vlag scharen. "In the name of Metal law, the posers fall"! De boodschap is vandaag de dag een beetje ridicuul, maar ze verpakken hem wel verdomd goed...

At the same time they put you an uncompromising label on your band, often in the underground scene. Consciously chosen or not, that we have to ask the band itself. Skelator, who moved from San Diego to Seattle, are active for almost ten years and in that time released on their own three demos and two ep's. Thanks to a deal with Metal On Metal they bring the latter ("Swords" and "The gore of war") together in a full length which is entitled "Time of the sword rulers". Besides loud announcements of being true or their - pardon my French - hilarious intro on their MySpace, Skelator sounds great! Pure epic metal stuff, rooted deep in the eighties and with maniacal 'love 'em of hate 'em' vocals. The whole package is something between Sacred Steel and Agent Steel. The audience open to that, will fully comprehend and dig Skelator. To go over the top myself: All Warlords who ride with Manowar, Brocas Helm or Holy Martyr must fight at Skelator's side.
