India. Het land spreekt tot de verbeelding. Veel weten de meeste Europeanen er niet van, wel  dat er grote culturele verschillen zijn. Maar dat er ginder een behoorlijke metalscene is, dat weten we uiteraard. Elk jaar heb ik zelfs het geluk een enthousiaste Indiër (soms twee) in ons gezelschap te hebben op Graspop. En geloof me, ze kennen de muzikale wereld. Dus ja, dat beetje voorkennis helpt wel... Frontiers, niet het kleinste label, neemt zo een band onder de arm, Fifth Note. Wij hadden een gesprek met Sheduto Kezo (Keyboardist).

 

India is the biggest country in the world. At least, they have the most inhabitants. Moreover, most of them are young. They do have different traditions, but there is a metal scene too. Fifth Note is a band who is trying to conquer the rest of the world with their music. Curious as we are, we wanted to know more. So first we wanted to know some more about the band and it's background!

 

Ans:- As mentioned in our bio, we are more of an experimental progressive rock band which allows us to explore different style of rock or music. We love making hard rock songs which we can vibe to. And generally hope, listeners can feel that vibe too. All of us started our musical journey from playing in our own local churches. Therefore, we always have that church background within us but we don't normally label ourselves as a Gospel Rock band. But yes, our background, our roots are from the church.

 

What are the musical inspirations?

 

Ans:- Our musical aspirations comes greatly from those famous bands like Dream Theatre, Circus Maximus, Halloween, Guns N Roses and the list goes on.

 

How did you get in touch with Frontiers?

 

Ans: - Our song "Here We Are" gained some prominence and it must have reached the ears of the Frontiers. And that's how the story goes. We are grateful to them for reaching us.

 

What do you expect from this album?

 

Ans: - Like it is said, it's the first shot to the target. We cannot expect great things with the first but yes we hope this album of ours can make an impact to music lovers. We hope our songs, especially the lyrics touches the heart of those in need.

 

Is there a possibility you will tour throughout Europe?

 

Ans: - It's hard to answer that, but yes we would love to tour Europe. Hope someday we get that chance, but sadly we've never been to Europe!

 

How is the metal scene in India? Lots of concerts? What bands are the most popular? Lots of metal/music stores and venues?

 

Ans:-  In India, rock and metal goes hand in hand, it's quite popular and dominant amongst music lovers. Surely in India, there are a few concerts which are popular but not pretty much for our state i.e Nagaland. As of now, you must have heard but GATC known as Girish and the Chronicles, they seem to be pretty popular in our country. And glad to say, overall, India does have quite popular stores or even venues for such purposes.

 

Can you describe where you live? India is so big.

 

Ans:- - We are from the Northeast Region of India, called Nagaland, mostly hilly and mountainous and most predominantly inhabited by the tribals. It is a developing state and is such a young state still. A century or so ago, we Naga's were once known for headhunting. Many still believes such practices still exist, from those who doesn't know much about our country or state. But with the arrival of Christianity, such evil practices were abolished. Such is the culture or roots we come from.
